Permanent and temporary exhibitions
Permanent galleries include the Main Civil War Gallery which gives a comprehensive overview of the causes of the conflict while The World Turned Upside Down galleries examine their consequences and look 17th century life more closely.
These displays are complemented by temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Why Newark?
Newark played a major role in the British Civil Wars.
A strategically important Royalist stronghold, the town endured three sieges and became the setting for events of national significance.
Newark’s Civil War history spills out of the museum and threads through the streets of the town.
